History & Construction - Built in Holland by Dutch Ship builders Timmer and Zoon in 1939 for a Mr. Mitchell of England and soon after requisitioned by the Admiralty for use in World War Two. Saw active service in July 1940 as the Boom Defence/Patrol on the Tyne until summer 1943. She was then transferred to Great Yarmouth and continued as a tender to the Minesweeping Division until being returned to her owner in 1948. During 1948 she was re-engined with her present marine engines. Mr. Mitchell continued to own her until his demise and she was sold on in 1988.

The vessel has been recently refitted with a new interior using oak faced ply and Iroko trim. The galley was fitted out 6 years ago, the saloon woodwork built new 4 years ago, and the aft cabin sleeping quarters was made a year ago. (Photos of work in progress available)

There are two sister ships that come to our attention, The "Marsayru" of 1937 and the "Lady Delft" of 1938, both slightly different, and these two sisters are both Dunkirk Little Ships.

Comments - - - Your chance to own a rare little ship. Be admired at sea or in port. Lots of style, wrapped in a well proven seaworthy design. The interior is all recently fitted out with the exception of the wheelhouse which remains largely original, and has been made as suitable for Liveaboard. "Marea" would also provide an unique base for Cruising Holidays and also would be a lovely boat to take to the Classic Boat Rallies. Useful as a Riverboat or Sea going cruiser. Viewing by appointment, phone today to view.
